Las Mijas Productions
Is an independent film production company based in Wilmington, Delaware. Its goal is to create thought provoking, intelligent, and diverse content with commercial appeal. Founded by Ana Quiroz-Samayoa and Yari Olivo-Camacho in 2014 over frustrations at the lack of opportunities available to them during their last year of college, Las Mijas strives to tell compelling stories, break down barriers and entertain audiences from every walk of life.
One of the two co-founders of the Delaware based independent film company, Las Mijas Productions. While Yari was in high school, she had her first opportunity to showcase her script writing, directing, and acting abilities by producing an original play for her schools One Act Festival. Yari had plans to pursue a career in acting at NYU, but after an accident left her mobility drastically reduced, she decided to attend Wilmington University where she is currently enrolled in the Digital Filmmaking program. Since enrolling at Wilmington university, Yari has worked as a script supervisor and cinematographer with several Delaware filmmakers such as Dawn Mosley of I am Filmworks, in the Anti-Violence short film "Say Something". In addition to working in film, Yari has spend time giving back to the theater community by serving as one of Wilmington Drama League's marketing committee's cinematographers. In this role she helped produce a series of promotional videos for musicals such as "The Civil War" and "Wonderland".
As a film student at Wilmington University, Ana searched for every opportunity available to be on set. This search led her to work along some of Delaware's finest independent film directors, such as Dawn Mosley and Ashay Javadekar. These collaborations allowed Ana to assist in producing projects that have gone on to prestigious film festivals such as Cannes and Melbourne. Ana went from production assistant to creating, producing and directing her own web series, Maintain for her senior project with Yari Olivo-Camacho.
